Domain renting is exactly what it sounds like! Simply put, a domain can be rented by the owner to a business or person to use. Much like renting property, the renter can use the domain for the length of the agreement as long as they pay the rent on time and do not break the terms of the rental contract.
At the end of the rental period or upon agreed termination or of the contract by both parties, the domain name and full control of the domain will be returned to the rightful owner.
Domain renting allows the owner of the domain to make money from it while retaining ownership and enables renters to access previously inaccessible domain names that are already owned or too expensive to purchase outright.
Why rent a domain instead of buying one?
Renting a domain creates the opportunity for anyone to use domain names that previously would be unavailable or too costly to get hold of. This allows people or companies to start an online business using a highly valued domain without paying large purchase fees. It also allows renters to give the domain name a trial run to ensure it fits their online business before committing to it long-term.
Domain renting provides companies with a head start in their marketing strategy with a well-established, valuable, and memorable domain name without needing to launch their business with the large financial commitment of purchasing one outright.
Why put your domain up for rent?
Selling a highly valued domain can take time, as many interested parties may be unable to afford it. By choosing to rent out your domain for a set amount each month, you can reach more interested parties and make some money from your domain.
With this method, you will receive a guaranteed monthly income while still keeping ultimate ownership of the domain name.
Domain renting is ideal for those with highly valued domains that they’re either struggling to sell or those who want to retain ownership of a domain they’re currently not using while still making some money from it.
